Two people died in an Orange County motorcycle crash when a car struck their bike. Police arrived on the scene of the 6:57 p.m. accident to discover that the bikers were dead. The Florida motorcycle accident took place on Interstate 4.
How the motorcycle accident happened
According to police, a 79-year-old man was driving a motorcycle on the interstate on a recent Friday. A 63-year-old woman was his passenger. Behind the bike was a sport utility vehicle that a 34-year-old man was driving.
Police said the SUV driver did not slow down in time for the motorcycle and ended up striking it. Both the man and the woman on the motorcycle were ejected from the bike onto the road and were pronounced dead at the accident scene. Meanwhile, the SUV driver was not hurt.
How an attorney can help
The family members of the man and woman on the motorcycle may choose to file wrongful death claims against the SUV driver, seeking the reimbursement of financial damages sustained in the collision. Liability has to be established, based upon a showing of negligence, before a Florida judge will decide any claims for damages. A successfully fought lawsuit may result in a monetary judgment to cover funeral costs and other losses stemming from the accident, such as the loss of support for surviving dependents. Financial damages cannot undo the events leading to the tragic crash, but they may help the deceased parties’ surviving loved ones move forward as they struggle to come to terms with the devastating outcome.
